There's probably a reason my most people don't pour cement into Ziploc bags, but if this works, it'll be the coolest thing I've ever made. If you're new here, I upcycle things I find in New York City. At this point, you've probably already seen the Viral Concrete Pillow Trek, but we're going to take it a big step forward. And here's what you need. Plaster of Paris, some cold water, a clear sealant, strong tape, a big Ziploc bag, and a basketball. That's right, today we're making a basketball display. I start off by mixing two parts plaster to one part water. Honestly, I just eyeballed it until it started getting to the consistency of yogurt. The hardest part was getting out all the bubbles, and I found that tapping it repeatedly was the best way to do it. Next, we quickly lock in the shape by adding a basketball and applying a good amount of pressure using gorilla tape. I highly recommend getting some heavy duty Ziploc bags. I was surprised that it was already starting to harden, so I just left it overnight. This was the moment of truth. I carefully removed the bag by cutting it open, and it was looking amazing. Unfortunately, I didn't get all the air bubbles out, but I really like the texture left behind. The last step is to seal it with any type of sealant. I went with a clear matte finish.
