Here’s the exact 30-minute setup I wish someone gave me from the beginning: → 0–5 min: Download the desktop app Download Claude Desktop and sign into your Pro account. Get the Pro plan. Yes, it’s $20/month. Yes, it’s worth it. Click on Cowork in the left sidebar. → 5–15 min: Set up your Claude workspace On your desktop create one main folder called: Claude-Cowork Inside it create 4 folders: ABOUT ME, PROJECTS, TEMPLATES, CLAUDE OUTPUTS Inside ABOUT ME create a file called about-me.md here include what you do, your current projects, your goals and one short example of your actual voice. Save as .md, not .txt. → 15–20 min: Inside Claude Cowork click: Add Folder → select Claude-Cowork Switch to the latest Opus model with Extended Thinking. Now type: “I want [TASK] for [SUCCESS CRITERIA]. Read my folder first. Ask me questions before executing.” This alone changes the quality of your outputs dramatically. → 20–25 min: Go to: Customize → Browse Plugins Install ONE plugin that actually matches your workflow (marketing, research, productivity) Type / in any task to see your new slash commands. → 25–30 min: Give Claude something you genuinely need help with now: workflow, content creation, sales funnel etc. and watch a real finished file land in CLAUDE OUTPUTS That’s when Claude stops feeling like a chatbot…and starts feeling like an actual assistant.
